Having just read most of topic two, and the comments on the forums, I understand that I have a lot to learn. It seems that many of my fellow students work in schools, and there is an 'education' rhetoric that I need to familiarise myself with. It will be useful to have teachers who are amongst it to provide an interesting perspective.
While the role of the 'teacher librarian' itself is not DIRECTLY related to my current job, the number of hats the TL is ideally supposed to fit on her head is quite overwhelming. I can pull ideas and theories from the readings, and see how they can be used in my role as children's librarian.

First Post!
Congratulations Jess, you have finally started your online learning blog. Here, you will embark on a journey into the land of children's librarianship and hopefully, come out the other side, a professional confident Children's Librarian.
So....future self....what will you be? You will be engaged with local schools, play groups and child care centres. You will be bringing new users into the library and wowing them with your amazing knowledge of children's literature. Not only literature, but how to encourage reluctant readers, how to provide the best service to children, youth and their parents/ carers. You will be super librarian!
How are you going to do this? You work full time! A big challenge for you will be making the time to sit down and read, write and communicate on the forums. THINK! Only one year left! You can do it!
